Thanks to this feature, Ostuni is known as the "white city", but also has other names, the "queen of the olive trees" and the "city manger."

To visit the entire old town is known as the "land" to distinguish it from the more recent "sea", which looks like a set of old buildings plastered whitewashed built on each other.
